If you’re like me, you’re suffering from cabin fever because of Hurricane Sandy. She may have beaten us up a little, but you know we New Yorkers are a resilient people….and a people who like to have fun. Though the official Parade in Greenwich Village has been postponed (I refuse to say cancelled), that doesn’t mean you and the family can’t play dress up at home.
Halloween’s a big business here in the United States. Another religious holiday that is now commercialized, Halloween is now a multi-billion dollar business. According to the National Retail Federation, Americans will spend more than $2.8 billion on costumes for the whole family (themselves, the kids and pets). Add in the necessary Halloween accouterments (decorations, pumpkins, etc), you’re talking about almost $8 billion expected to be spent this year alone.
